  • Does my front radar work and windshield camera work together?

Together, the radar and camera complement each other to give the vehicle a more comprehensive understanding of its surroundings. The radar excels in detecting objects in poor visibility conditions (like rain or fog) and at longer distances, while the camera provides detailed visual recognition of lanes, signs, and closer objects. By fusing data from both, the vehicle's ADAS can make more accurate and timely decisions to enhance driver safety.

  • What is ADAS?

ADAS, or Advanced Driver Assistance Systems, are technologies designed to enhance vehicle safety and driving convenience. These systems use sensors, cameras, and radar to monitor the vehicle's surroundings and assist the driver by providing alerts or taking automatic actions. Common ADAS features include lane departure warning, automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, and parking assistance. By reducing human error, ADAS helps prevent accidents and improves overall driving safety.

  • What is Static Calibration?

    Camera calibration service being performed

Static calibration is a precise process used to recalibrate a vehicle's advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) after a windshield replacement. It is performed in a controlled environment, without the car moving, using specialized equipment to adjust cameras, sensors, and other ADAS components to factory specifications. This ensures that features like lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and emergency braking function correctly for safety and optimal performance.

  • What is Dynamic Calibration?

    Camera calibration service being performed

Dynamic calibration is a process used to recalibrate a vehicle's advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS) while the vehicle is driven. This method requires the car to be driven under specific conditions, allowing the sensors, cameras, and radar to self-adjust in real-time as they interact with the environment. Dynamic calibration ensures that the ADAS features like lane-keeping assist, adaptive cruise control, and automatic braking function accurately and safely after a windshield replacement or other repairs.

  • What is the process of decontaminating and prepping a windshield for install?

    Camera calibration service being performed

To prep a windshield for installation, the glass is first cleaned to remove dirt and oils. The (pinch-weld) area where the windshield will sit on the car is also cleaned and inspected for rust or other contaminants that may prevent a lifetime-bond. A special primer is applied to help the adhesive bond properly.
